Running Tip of the Week - Week 1   "Tearing Down & Building Up"

When we run our muscles, bones, cartilage, ligaments and other structures undergo some normal wear and tear due to the stresses (although they are good stresses) of running.  These tissues need time to repair and rebuild (especially for new runners) before they are ready to run again.  There is a balance between the break-down and build up process that may take a day or more. Consider this when training.  Many times you will run better and stay more injury free when a cross training day or rest day is placed between runs.
